SOMERSET ILLUMINATED CARNIVALS
Join us in Somerset for one of the highlights of the year: the Somerset Illuminated Carnivals! Somerset Carnivals run throughout October and November in South Somerset and North Somerset. The Somerset Illuminated Carnivals are traditionally set around Bonfire Night and the Gunpowder Plot, originating in the 1600s. Today's Somerset carnivals feature enormous, often tractor-led carnival floats, with music, dancing, entertainment and street food across Somerset.

If you are looking for caravan, motorhome or RV and Fifth Wheel accommodation to visit the Somerset Illuminated Carnivals, we are one of the few open all year touring caravan parks in Somerset and can cater for you for the entire Somerset Carnival circuit. We also have holiday lodge accommodation available for the Somerset carnivals in October and November.
We are one of Premier Parks Top 100 UK Sites and they have picked us as one of their top Autumn breaks. Highlighted in their posts are the wonderful Somerset Illuminated carnivals, where you'll get to experience Somerset tradition first hand across several dates across October and November.

OUR SOMERSET CARNIVAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Our nearest carnival is Castle Cary Carnival, just 4 miles away. You will see the same large floats which are displayed at the big North Somerset carnivals, with the benefit of being even closer to the action! The heavily decorated, illuminated carnival floats feature dancing troops and are great for a sing-along, with common themes including musicals, comedy floats, and of course farming, which Somerset is famous for! You'll definitely catch a few songs by The Wurzels throughout the night.
There will be parking around the peripheral of the town centre, although we would suggest car sharing if possible, as carnival is always busy! We'd also recommend dressing up warm and picking up some fish and chips from the local chip shop.

We would also highly recommend a visit to Wells Carnival, which is one of the largest illuminated carnivals during Somerset carnival season. Wells Carnival features all of the largest floats seen at Bridgwater Carnival and is, without a doubt, one of the biggest crowds for the show.
"50 EVENTS WORTH TRAVELLING FOR IN 2022"
Conde Nast Traveller Magazine named the Somerset Illuminated Carnivals one of their "50 events worth travelling for in 2022". Listed alongside some of the top festivals and events in the world, the Somerset Carnivals are just one of five recommendations for November by the travel oracle and were part of their "year to remember"!
