TOURING CARAVAN PARK AND CAMPSITE NEAR WINCANTON RACECOURSE

Our touring caravan park and campsite is an ideal place to stay for a day out at Wincanton racecourse. One of the best horse racecourses in the South West, Wincanton is part of The Jockey Club. There are 17 race days per year from October through to May.

We are just 8 miles away from the racecourse, and the nearest quality 5* rated caravan park. We also have holiday lodges for hire.

Saddles

The first Wincanton race day was held on 1 August 1867, where several thousand local spectators dressed in their finery. Wincanton Racecourse was the second course to join The Racecourse Holdings Trust in 1966, after Cheltenham, now known as The Jockey Club Racecourses.

Highlights of the calendar are the Badger Ales Trophy in November, The Lord Stalbridge Memorial H’cap Chase on Boxing Day and the Kingwell Hurdle, traditionally a Champion Hurdle trial, in February. The Racegoers club have voted Wincanton the Best Small Racecourse in the South West twenty times since 1990.​

One of the biggest fixtures of the Wincanton Racecourse calendar is the Boxing Day Races. Held annually on 26 December, the races are a real celebration at the end of the festive season and very popular with our guests. With six races, the day is full of excitement.
